Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
This method of hair restoration surgery is also called ‘ strip-method’. A complete strip of hair is removed from the back of the scalp. This area usually does not underlie the hormonal changes and is therefore resistant regarding any hormonal hair loss. From the extracted strip the follicular units are saved.
In the meantime micro incisions are placed in the forehead and later on the grafts are implanted in this area. The most important goal is to receive a high density and a natural look. The pros and cons regarding the FUE and FUT technique are multiple. The major disadvantage of the FUT ( Follicular Unit Transplantation ) is a scarring which remains visible. It is therefore important to plan the hair restoration surgery on an individual basis for each patient and to determine the best possible procedure for every patient.
