How it works

Active ingredients exactly where the hair roots need them

Hair loss has many causes: genetic predisposition, hormonal changes, stress, nutrient deficiencies or inflammatory changes in the scalp. Whatever the trigger, one thing holds: for hair to grow reliably, the follicles need a well-supplied environment with little inflammation.

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure in which an individually tailored mix of active ingredients is delivered directly into the scalp through very fine microinjections. There the substances form micro-depots and spread through the tissue by diffusion.

What sets it apart is where it is applied. Topical products work on the surface; supplements travel via digestion and the bloodstream. Mesotherapy acts directly on the target tissue. The aim is to support microcirculation and local metabolism, and improve conditions for active hair follicles.

Which ingredients are used depends on the findings and the treatment goal. Common choices include vitamins, amino acids and trace elements, along with bioregulative components such as dexpanthenol, biotin or coenzyme Q10. The formulation is not an off-the-shelf product but part of the medical treatment plan.

An important distinction: mesotherapy cannot create new hair follicles. It makes most sense while the hair roots are still present and can be reactivated. The earlier you start, the better the starting position.

Indication

Who is the treatment suitable for?

A prior medical assessment is decisive, so that treatment is genuinely targeted rather than missing the actual cause.

Makes sense for
  • diffuse thinning and generally finer hair
  • early androgenetic alopecia, as one component of a wider plan
  • stress-related hair loss, once investigated
  • hormonal changes, such as after pregnancy or during menopause
  • support after a hair transplant, for scalp and hair quality
Not suitable for
  • no active hair follicles left in the affected areas
  • acute inflammation, infection or a badly irritated scalp
  • untreated severe iron deficiency or thyroid disorder
  • known allergies to any of the intended ingredients
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding

If an untreated underlying condition is driving the hair loss, correcting that comes first. Mesotherapy alongside an unresolved cause wastes both time and money.

Procedure

Short, outpatient, no preparation needed

  1. History and hair analysisWe discuss the progression, the pattern and possible triggers, and check blood values where needed.
  2. Treatment planningA suitable combination of active ingredients is put together, based on your goal and findings.
  3. TreatmentMicroinjections are placed into the affected areas. This is an outpatient treatment, usually taking 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Follow-up reviewWe assess how you have responded and adjust the interval or the formulation.

Mesotherapy is generally most effective as a course. The usual pattern is an initial phase of several closely spaced sessions, followed by longer intervals for maintenance. The exact plan is tailored to you.

No special preparation is needed. Your scalp should be free of styling products on the day of treatment.

Results

What you can realistically expect

Downtime

None. Brief redness, slight swelling or tenderness is possible.

First signs

After roughly two to three months, less shedding, or better texture.

Reliable assessment

Over the course of several months.

Treatment goal

Better hair quality and a stabilised progression.

Hair growth is slow and cyclical. First changes may be noticeable after about two to three months, and a reliable assessment usually takes several months. The main goal is better hair quality and stabilisation. Individual results vary.

Temporary redness, small bruises, swelling or a feeling of tightness are all possible. Serious complications are rare when the treatment is performed properly.

Combinations

Within the wider plan

Mesotherapy combines well with other regenerative procedures. We often pair it with PRP, bringing together your own growth factors and targeted nutrient delivery, or with polynucleotides where scalp quality is also a priority.

After a hair transplant, mesotherapy can be used alongside recovery to support the scalp and the hair you already have. It is always coordinated within the wider plan.

Frequently asked

Mesotherapy: your questions

How long do the results last?

Mesotherapy treats how well the scalp is supplied, not your genetic predisposition. The result therefore holds for as long as maintenance treatment continues. After the initial course, longer intervals are usually enough. If treatment stops entirely, things gradually return to the starting point over a period of months.

Is mesotherapy painful?

Very fine, short needles are used, injecting only a few millimetres deep. Most patients find the treatment well tolerated, comparable to a brief pinprick. Anaesthetic is generally not required.

How many sessions are needed?

A typical plan has an initial course of several closely spaced sessions, often six to ten, followed by a maintenance phase at longer intervals. The exact number depends on your starting point and how you respond, and is adjusted as you go.

How does mesotherapy differ from PRP?

With PRP, a concentrate is drawn from your own blood and injected, so it works through your own growth factors. With mesotherapy, a medically formulated mix of active ingredients is delivered. Both aim at a better environment for the follicles, but they work differently and combine well.

Is there anything I need to do beforehand?

No special preparation is needed. Ideally come with a clean scalp, free of styling products. We discuss blood-thinning medication and any relevant medical history beforehand, as part of taking your history.

Can mesotherapy replace a hair transplant?

No. Where no active follicles remain, no injection therapy can create new hair. In those cases a hair transplant is the appropriate procedure. Mesotherapy can be used in a supporting role both before and after.
