How it works
Scalp quality as the foundation for stable hair growth
With hair loss it pays to look not only at the hair but at the scalp as the base tissue. A dry, sensitive or inflamed scalp can affect hair quality negatively; conversely, a more stable environment can help the follicles you have work better.
Polynucleotides are long-chain molecules built from nucleotide units, of the kind found naturally in DNA and RNA. In aesthetic and regenerative medicine they are used as biostimulators to support tissue processes, particularly through better hydration, a more favourable antioxidant environment and regenerative signals within the tissue.
For the scalp, that means the therapy aims to optimise the environment in which the follicles sit. Studies suggest this mainly benefits hair density and hair quality, provided enough active follicles remain.
The approach makes most sense where, alongside the hair loss, a dry scalp, a feeling of tightness or a noticeable loss of quality are also prominent. Then you are treating a genuinely present component rather than working around the symptom.
An important distinction: polynucleotides are not a substitute for a hair transplant and do not create new follicles. They can be used as a standalone course or alongside PRP and mesotherapy.

Who is the treatment suitable for?
The prerequisite is that active follicles remain in the target areas. We establish that beforehand through your history and a hair analysis.

If the scalp is acutely irritated or infected, we treat the cause first. Biostimulation on inflamed tissue is neither sensible nor well tolerated.

The usual approach is a course of several sessions at set intervals. Depending on your goal and progress, top-ups can be worthwhile to hold the result.
Before treatment your scalp should be free of care and styling products. No other preparation is needed.

What actually are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are long-chain molecules built from nucleotide units, of the kind found naturally in DNA and RNA. In regenerative medicine, highly purified preparations are used as biostimulators. They do not act as a drug against the cause of hair loss; they improve conditions in the tissue in which the follicles are anchored.
How many sessions do I need?
A typical course is about four to six sessions at intervals of two to four weeks. After that, progress determines whether and when top-ups make sense. The specific plan follows the hair analysis.
Is the treatment painful?
The microinjections are placed with very fine needles and are usually described as well tolerated. The treatment takes only a few minutes. Anaesthetic is generally not required.
How do polynucleotides differ from PRP?
PRP uses a concentrate from your own blood, so it works through your own growth factors. Polynucleotides are a standardised preparation aimed primarily at hydration, a better antioxidant environment and tissue regeneration. PRP acts more on stimulating the follicle, polynucleotides more on the surrounding tissue, which is why the two complement each other well.
What do I need to be aware of afterwards?
Avoid sport, saunas and heavy sweating for 24 to 48 hours, and do not irritate the scalp unnecessarily: no vigorous rubbing or very hot water. There is no downtime; you can go straight back to normal life.
Do polynucleotides help with hereditary hair loss?
They can be a useful component, but they do not replace treating the cause. In androgenetic alopecia the follicles remain hormonally sensitive. Polynucleotides improve the environment and therefore the starting position, but on their own they do not halt the process. That is why we usually use them in combination with other measures.
